Red Sunset Red Maple

The Red Sunsetr Red Maple tree, Acer Rubrum Red Sunset, is considered one of the best trees for early fall color! This is a large deciduous tree that has pyramidal form when young becoming rounded with age. Species name of rubrum (meaning red) is everywhere in evidence: red flowers in dense clusters in late March to early April (before the leaves appear), red fruit (reddish two-winged samara), reddish stems and twigs. The Red Sunsetr is one of the best red maple cultivars available in commerce, with outstanding orange to red fall color.

Winter Honeysuckle

The Winter Honeysuckle, Lonicera fragrantissima, is sometimes called Sweet Breath of Spring. It is extremely fragrant (lemony), with creamy white flowers that appear in early spring before the leaves emerge. Flowers are followed by small, somewhat inconspicuous, red berries which mature in late spring to early summer. Easily grown in average, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Adapts to wide range of soils, including dry ones, but prefers moist, loamy soils. Prune to shape after flowering.
