The Strawberry Allstar, Fragaria \’Allstar\’, a spring planted herbacious root, produces consistantly large, light colored strawberries year after year. The Strawberry Allstar is a June-bearing strawberry that is very disease resistant. It produces sweet, extra juicy berries and is very hardy.
The Paeonyflorus Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus Paeonyflorus, is an upright, deciduous shrub that is a vigorous, erect, multi-stemmed shrub that typically grows 8-12\’ tall. This shrub may also be trained as a single trunk tree or espalier. Leaves are diamond-shaped, dark green, slightly palmate and toothed. \’Paeonyflorus\’ bears double flowers in pink to wine color from late summer until mid-fall. Larger flowers may be obtained by pruning back hard to 2-3 buds in early spring. Otherwise, prune to shape.
Butterhead- Kagraner Sommer Lettuce
The Lettuce Butterhead Kagraner Summer, \’Lactuca sativa\’, is a French butterhead also known as \’Butter Bow Head\’, and has tasty, well-formed medium sized heads that are slow to bolt in summer heat. The French butterhead was originally from Germany. It is excellent for window boxes, indoor pots, and is a cute border plant. The mild tasting leaves are soft and buttery. They will grow in light shade. Lettuce grows well near cabbage, beets, carrots, chives, garlic, and onion.
The Basil Greek Mini Yevani, \’Ocimum basilicum minimum\’, is a basil lover\’s treat. Yevani has a strong, spicy basil flavor that is a compliment to any tomato dish. The small mounding plant is excellent for containers. This small-leaved, 12 inch diameter, 6 inch tall mounded basil doesn\’t give anything to other basils in flavor.
